フェアトレードについて

  

All VanVliet Chocolate products are made from organic and fairtrade ingredients. We believe that in life you should take good care of your health, nature and of other people. We try to do this by using only ingredients that are 100% natural, without the use of additives or pesticides, and by working together with small producers that get paid a fair price for their products.

Fair trade

All VanVliet Chocolate comes from ingredients harvested through fair trade practices. We buy our chocolate couvertures from a Swiss company Pronatec who more than 40 years ago, were the first company to sell 100% organic and fairtrade chocolate. 
Pronatec does business directly with the small scale farmers without any intermediate companies and by doing so they guarantee;

  • Paying fair prices to family farmers;
  • Paying premiums to improve social conditions in communities of family farmers;
  • Paying family farmers in advance to assist in long-term planning and pre-harvest financing;
  • Supporting democratic participation in farmer-owned co-operatives;
  • Ensuring that there is no forced labour; and Supporting sustainable farming practices.

Organic

All VanVliet products are made from premium quality organic ingredients.

Premium quality organic ingredients are key to building vibrant sustainable communities. Organic and shade grown agricultural techniques are healthier for you, family farmers and the environment. Traditional growing techniques that rely on natural pest control rather than chemical pesticides are used to grow all ingredients in VanVliet products.

Our chocolate comes from  a cooperation of small scale farmers from the Dominican Republic named YACAO. This cooperation was founded in 1999 by our Swiss partner Pronatec. If you want to read more about this cooperation click here. 

Cocoa grown by YACAO producers;

  • Promotes the diversification of plants and trees;
  • Provides an ecological equilibrium;
  • Reduces the incidence of plagues and disease;
  • Fertilizes the soil with harvest residuals;
  • Generates additional income through the premium paid for certified organic products;
  • Enriches family diets with fruit from shade-giving trees; and,
  • Generates additional income through the sale of additional fruit harvest from shade-giving trees.

チョコレートの原料となるカカオ産業では、カカオ農家が公正な価格を受け取れずどんなに一生懸命働いても貧困から抜け出せなかったり、子供たちを強制的に労働力としている現状があります。彼らのハードワークに値する適切な賃金、価格を払い、子供に労働をさせず、農家が抱える問題の解決を協力したりすることで継続的に良質な原料を仕入れることができる仕組みをフェアトレードと呼びます。

フェアトレードマークは、国際フェアトレード認証機構(FLO)が設定した基準に従い、生産過程、取引が行われたと認証された商品に付与されます。これは公正な価格を生産者に払っているということ、奴隷や子供たちに労働を強制していないということを示しています。また、カカオを購入する企業は小規模農家に投資し地域を活性化させ、原材料は環境に優しい状況のもとに生産されていることも意味しています。
